Monday Intensives

The Monday intensive classes are extra and are not included in the ticket price for the 3 day lecture event and are not part of our work trades!

Monday Intensives will consist of a field trip, a sack lunch and will be taking place at Black Bear Ranch, 16 miles north of Hot Springs.  Please bring a camping chair if you are going to join us for the Monday Intensives.  Those who will only be attending the Monday Intensives need to register in Hot Springs at the MHG Information booth before traveling to the ranch.  All attendees will be notified prior to the event.

Blackbear Ranch is a former cattle ranch and large animal sanctuary that is in the process of recovering from severe overgrazing for the last 100 years. Located on the Flathead Indian reservation, Blackbear Ranch has a unique combination of geography ranging from wetland to pasture to native steppe to forest, with many valuable plants found within each zone. Longterm plans for the ranch include ongoing restoration efforts, an herbal medicine farm and healing retreat center.

Directions to Blackbear from Hot Springs:

Go north on Highway to mile marker 13. Just passed mile marker 13, take first left onto West Road, continuing for 3.3 miles until you will take a right onto Far West Road. Continue on Far West Road for just over one mile. Black Bear ranch will be on the right, indicated by a large metal sign.

Spirit and Practice of the Wise Woman Tradition.

The arc of herbal medicine runs from naked people rolling in plants to white coated labe technicians creating new anti-malarial drugs from plants.  Where are you on the spectrum?  Are you a Wise Woman Tradition herbalist?  A Heroic Tradition herbalist?  A Scientific Tradition herbalist?  Or a little dash of each?  Knowing the differences can help you get the health care that is best for you.  Which medicines are you most comfortable using?  Serenity medicine?  Story medicine?  Mind medicine? (AKA Placebo Medicine). Lifestyle medicine? Alternative Medicine?  Pharmaceutical Medicine?  Hi-Tech Medicine?  What are the risks and benefits of each?  We're going to cover a lot of material in this intensive, so fasten your seatblets and get ready for a thrilling ride.
